Electric Engines

I was fascinated by electric flight from the beginning.

It was quite easy to find the necessary information in books and modeller magazines. The newsgroups in the internet also turned out as extremly helpful.

After evaluating the systems on the market I descided to to buy the "Mercury-C" Reflex charger of "Hoelzl-Electronic" a small company in Meersburg/Germany. I also use the charger at home, powered by an old PC power-supply.

After first expermiments with a "Tipsy" from Graupner I bought a Zagi 400. **Almost undestroyable" was the most attractive feature. The Zagi is really a nice, fully acrobatic plane - I tested the roubustness by crashing into a cherry tree after choosing a suboptimal path for final approach ;-)

The Zagi 400 was powered by a Speed 400 and 7 cells 500AR. I was a bit dissapointed by the flight performance so I played around with "P-Calc" http://brantuas.com/ezcalc/dma.asp and found out, that additional 2 cells would result in 50% more thrust - wow.
After adding these 2 cells it was much more fun to fly the Zagi!
